Zona: The Forbidden Land is a science fiction and fantasy novel written by Fred G. Baker. The mood of the book entails violence, gore, sex, and mysteries.

Randall Taylor is a fervent seeker of the undiscovered. He finds great delight in traveling to the ends of the earth, both for personal fulfillment and, most importantly, for scientific investigation.

He goes on a mind-boggling expedition to Zona, a restricted area, with a team of enthusiastic explorers and researchers like himself, but unfortunately the expedition turned out to be disastrous. With almost all the team members dead, Randall and two other scientists go missing. The lone survivor was lucky enough to live and tell the tale. After a year, Randall is declared missing by the government, and his estate and properties are willed to his only nephew, Grant Taylor. Grant flies down to St. Petersburg, Russia, to inherit his uncle's properties, but during this transition period, he encounters strange occurrences and meets with his uncle's lawyer and the lone survivor of the previous expedition.

Now Grant is convinced his uncle might still be alive, so another expedition is planned. Will they successfully reach Zona without being killed? Is Uncle Randall still alive? Grab a copy of this fascinating fantasy novel by Fred G. Baker to find out more.

The book was filled with suspense from the very first chapters until the end. The author's descriptions of zona made me almost believe it was a real location on earth. I especially liked the uniqueness of the plot and the flow with which it kept readers engaged.

One thing I liked about the book was the in-depth discussion of the marshlands and territories of Zona. The animals were given a distinctive trait that broadened my imagination. Grant was a very stoic character who always faced situations head-on. The only issue I had was his promiscuity with women. I thought he would have been faithful to Irina since they shared a little bond before the expedition.

It is important to note that this book had no errors. The author's style of writing was fluid and clear. Everything was given enough time and attention. Even though there were some instances of profane language used, I still enjoyed the book, and I will be pleased to give it a rating of 5 out of 5 stars because the story was enjoyable and unique, the descriptions were vivid, and there was good character development.

I would recommend this book to avid lovers of science fiction, fantasy, and mystery books. The book has all the serious and interesting genres combined, and a mature audience is advised because of the multiple instances of sex and profanity.
