[Following is a volunteer review of "The Weed Lady" by Shea R Embry.]
The Weed Lady by Shea R Embry focuses on the life of Jesi and how much her relationship with the most important people in her life took a dynamic turn when she was faced with the challenge of choosing between them and chasing her obsession with the weed lady that suddenly appeared in her front yard. Jesi's life was to be changed forever after her first encounter with the weed lady and the subsequent events that followed. Jesi was however to make an important decision that will go on to affect the lives of Nicole, Jules, and Rachel. Things took an interesting turn as Jesi found a perfect way to put an end to the problems she faced and restore her once amazing relationships. Who is the weed lady? What did Jesi do to try to fix her relationship? How did these incidents affect their lives?
The Weed Lady shows how the tiniest of things can affect our relationship with our loved ones. The length Jesi could go to salvage her relationships and rekindle the flame of affection with her lover, Nicole; and her friendship with Rachel showed how beautiful connections can be. I liked the ritual about pulling weeds that Jesi was able to make out of the situation. It was a case of turning lemons into lemonade. I also liked her relationship with the weed lady which showed empathy, concern, and genuine love. What I liked most about the book was how the author was able to explicitly describe the characters of the two couples and their feelings at every point in time. I found the love between Jesi and her dad, and the strain in Jesi's relationship with her mum quite intriguing.
The only thing I hated, which is common with most good books is, nothing prepared me for the turn of events and the twists that ensued as the book progressed. I read on in anticipation of what the subsequent chapters will unfold and the next plot twist I was likely to face. This goes to say that I did not dislike anything about the book.
I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars as there were no errors, and the book was professionally edited. I am giving the book a perfect rating due to the reasons listed above and because it is captivating, filled with relatable occurrences, and has an amazing storyline with plot twists that will make your jaw drop.
If you are a lover of mystery and suspense storylines, this book is suitable for you.
