Review of Dad in a Cheer Bow

[Following is a volunteer review of "Dad in a Cheer Bow" by Patrick Riccards.]
The book Dad in a Cheer Bow is a memoir that captures the author's life being his daughter's cheer coach. Most of the time you don’t expect to see a male coach because that's not what society has taught us. Patrick Riccards knew nothing about cheer, but couldn't turn down his daughter when she asked. He learned everything he needed to help coach. This memoir tells you all about the author's cheer adventures with his daughter and her team. From the wins and fails in their competitions. These girls did great and worked hard, and the author shows that in this book.
I love reading about how devoted Patrick becomes while coaching his team. At first, he was hesitant, being the only male, but soon enough that passed. All the coaches became so close that they were family and best friends. His wife and daughter picked on him for having a girl's night with them. Overall, Patrick worked very hard with these girls and the other coaches. He wanted to see them all succeed. I loved being able to see how much he grew as a person through the book.
I love how close Patrick and Anna are. The fact that they go on spa dates and have fun together. You can tell the author is a family person. This memoir makes you feel as though you are there with them. You can feel love and happiness throughout the entire book! I can just imagine all the laughter they have together and it's inspiring. After reading this book, it makes me wish I could see photos or videos of their competitions, so I could see how awesome they do.
I have nothing negative to say about this book. The story was heartwarming and very descriptive. I love all the quotes at the beginning of every chapter. And I love how Patrick took what little he knew and became dedicated to learning more. He did everything he could to help Anna and the team.
I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. The book was clear and descriptive. I never felt confused or lost in any way. I recommend this book to anyone who is family-oriented. Someone who loves reading about family bonding. Those trying to find the motivation to step out of their comfort zone. And also those girls who are interested in joining cheer or currently do cheer. I recommend it to those who love a good memoir; this one won't disappoint.
