The Reel Sisters by Michelle Cummings is a book that centers around 5 women that meet while in different places of life and bond over fly fishing. These women are Rose who owns the beloved Cabin they stay in, Sophie who owns a beautiful greenhouse and loves to farm, Amanda who is a 5th grade teacher, Vanessa who spends her days empowering other women, and Melody who is a loner. Each of these characters has a different personality and bring something to their group that the other doesn't. This makes their dynamic a fun and loving one. Together, this group of 5 embark on several adventures in fly fishing, as well as life. They are each sassy and funny in their own way but are also there to lean on one another when loss comes in to play. Melody isn't a member of the group at the beginning but she floats her way into all of their hearts quickly. For Melody, this group is something she didn't know she needed. And for the other girls, Melody is the true release they were searching for.

The thing I loved most about this book, has to be the way the story is written. Michelle Cummings really worked hard to ensure the reader feels what the characters are supposed to be like. The more I read it, the more engulfed I became in the outcome for each character. I could feel the emotions as they were playing out before me on paper and I was hooked on the first cast. The way the author used her real life experience of fly fishing is a huge positive for this book and helps you to understand the storyline even more. She incorporates little quotes from other fly fishing books to set the tone for what you're about to read next.

Of the things I didn't like about this book, it would be the ending. I expected there to be more details on their lives and what they would encounter next. I was looking forward to seeing how Melody adapted to having a friend group and if Sophie finally caught her biggest catch ever. I feel like this ending was left open to interpretation which, although not always a bad thing, isn't what I was expecting.

My negatives on this book aren't enough to lower the rating of the book, so I give The Reel Sisters 4 out of 4 stars. This book is very well edited and has a powerful story line.

I recommend The Reel Sisters by Michelle Cummings to other readers who loved to be engulfed in the story. If you love true in your feels type of reading, then this book is a definite yes to put on your bookshelf. Even if you don't like fishing, you will still love this book!
