Review of A Dream For Peace

[Following is a volunteer review of "A Dream For Peace" by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah.]
A Dream for Peace was born out of his patriotic desire to see his homeland freed from the shackles of colonialism after witnessing the persecution and suffering his people were exposed to during his childhood days in a place where colonial domination was widespread. Overriding all other emotions, this desire drove him to pursue a career in medicine. Along with his brothers, he zealously supported the cause of a free and independent Algeria by enduring difficult times and suffering. He also heeded the call to serve Africa after Algeria was freed from colonialism and worked to foster peaceful coexistence between Africans and the rest of the world.
He accomplished this by accepting a position offered to him by President Houphouet-Boigny of Côte d'Ivoire to assist him in bringing about peace. The love of his life was found thanks to his route. He undertook a number of difficult and covert missions and worked behind the scenes with President Houphouet-Boigny to ensure that warring nations might live in peace with one another, but, of course, their efforts were fraught with difficulties. The third-person narration of this novel was done in a slow-moving, engrossing manner that kept the reader's attention up until the very end.
The plot was well-organized and coherent, preventing misunderstanding. It was much easier to visualize because there were clear, crisp illustrations presented. Although it covered a wide range of topics, politics received the most attention. Dr. Ghoulem Berrah made me realize the significance of politics in every person's life, although many of us are complacent and act nonchalantly whenever the subject of politics is brought up. I discovered that politics has a direct impact on us, whether we are involved or not.
This memoir also got me thinking about faith and how happy the world would be if all religions lived in harmony with one another. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book because of the insight it provided, but the memoir was a little too long and some statements were difficult for me to understand at first glance. I had to go over these statements several times to fully comprehend the message being conveyed.
This book was professionally edited, with no profanity or erotic content. The writer's concept of religion was that God communicated to man in various ways. To this end, the book deserves a rating of 4 out of 4 stars. This is a book I would recommend to anyone who enjoys nonfiction and politics.
