The book, Goods and Effects, written by Al Schnupp, tells us the story of a woman named Hannah. She was a farmer who lost her husband and two sons. In a bid to forget the memories and move on, she had to relinquish control of her farm to someone else to operate.

The story continues and Hannah ventures into a new business of selling books and visiting libraries. Along the line, she met with a talented painter named Darla, who, though she led a different life, was very good at her paintings. Darla accompanied Hannah on all her trips to buy books, and she also picked up some interesting books related to painting.

Hannah appeared to be an emotionally lonely character interested in the church and its teachings, but in turn questioned the church's operations after her husband was denied a burial plot because he was not an active member, yet they never turned down his services while he was alive. Hannah lost everything that reminded her of the farm, including her lone companion, Five Paws. Hannah's narrative continues as Larry and Nathan enter her life. Larry adored Hannah, but is she over her loss and willing to allow him back into her life? This is something you would discover once you have finished reading the novel because I do not want to give any spoilers.

One thing I did not like about this story is that it had too many characters, and it was very difficult to remember all of them. Though it was a short story, I found it very hard to finish the story because I was confused with all the names the book contained.

One thing I love about this story is that it painted a picture of what grief was like in all aspects. Another thing I love about the story is the fact that it shows that humans can be weak, make mistakes, and be confused sometimes when they're faced with a tough situation.

However, I did not find any errors in this book, which shows that it was professionally edited. I rate this book 2 out of 4 stars because I did not like that the story had too many characters, which I was not able to remember. I recommend this story to all those who might have lost a loved one in the past and are finding it difficult to move on. I think the story would help them recover.
