[Following is a volunteer review of "Guardian of Deceit" by William H. Coles.]
There are many things that happen in your life that influence you to some extent. But being in a bad environment at a young age is something you can't get out of easily. Today we're going to talk about Guardian Of Deceit by William H. Coles. A book in which a young boys' life changed completely because of a certain someone.
The story is about a boy in his teens named Darwin. He is a studious kid with the ambition to become a doctor one day. He works hard in school and always aces all his exams. His parents died some time back in an accident, and he lived with his aunt now. His aunt had an illness and couldn't take care of him anymore, so he had to leave her and move to a rich athlete cousin of his named Luther. And Luther was one heck of a cruel guy. He didn't give Darwin an allowance, he didn't give him the money that his parents had left for him for his education, he made Darwin work small jobs to get money and because of all this, his dream to become a doctor was starting to fade away. But he didn't lose hope and still attempted to go for it with his studies. Now, when finally Darwin had settled in the house properly, he started to see some weird things going on. Luther was not earning his money legally, and he always used to get high and wasted. But this wasn't what Darwin was looking for, he was looking for something more brutal than this. So if you also want to find it out, get a copy of the book and start reading.
The thing that I liked about this book is the writing style of the author. He has done a great job in portraying Darwin's life in a way that it keeps us interested in it throughout the course of the book. He has showed us how everything took place and how Darwin took the change as an opportunity. The author has also used a pretty easy-to-understand language in the book, I didn't find the need to look up meanings of many words, so that was something I liked. Another point to note is that it has pretty small chapters. Personally, I prefer it this way as it gets things done quickly without letting you put it down in the middle of a chapter.
The amount of profanity and vulgarity in this book is uncountable. But it was expected from a book of this sort. There are eroticism as well, till some extent. If you are the kind of person who despises it, you should definitely stay away from this book. Or maybe you can just skip those parts and continue with the book. I didn't find any kind of grammatical mistakes or typos in it. So I can say it is professionally edited as well.
One thing that I didn't like was the amount of characters the book has. I mean, a lot of them have a role in the book but some of them are just there for no specific reason. But it was fine, as the author has done a great job in blending them in. So I have no complaints about the book.
One thing that annoyed me a little is the sheer number of characters this book has to offer. I mean, they all do play an important part in the book, but some of them are just there for no reason at all. But I guess it was needed for the book, so I won't complain about it much. Rest, everything was good.
I'd like to rate this book 4 out of 4 stars because of the intriguing storyline that it portrayed. I really enjoyed reading it. I'd recommend it to people who like suspense-thriller novels which contain a bit of eroticism in them.
