[Following is a volunteer review of "A Dream For Peace" by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah.]
A Dream for Peace, written by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah, goes into great detail about the author's life and all the key roles he played as a diplomat. The author is an Algerian liberation fighter who is fighting to prevent his country from being decolonized. He was a member of several movements, which led to his involvement in a number of historical events, the majority of which occurred in Africa. The memoir was both well-written and inspiring. This is because it clearly demonstrated the author's tenacity and how, by pursuing peace, he was able to remain relevant in a society rife with chaos. According to the book, dialogue is critical to achieving peace.
As a biography, the book depicts the main character's forays into various fields. He made certain that he made a significant difference in each area. He had stated the qualities he possessed that aided him in accomplishing all that he had. Dr. Berrah was given the opportunity to study medicine in Paris. Later, he dropped out and enrolled at Indiana University. As his education progressed, he was offered a position as a lecturer at Yale University, which he later left to become an advisor to the president of Cote D'Ivory. They both had an impact by keeping most African countries peaceful. For example, consider Israel and Palestine. The author circled the globe forty times to ensure that it was clear in order to achieve his goal of attaining peace.
To be honest, I liked the book from start to finish. The religious theme of the book is to show that regardless of our religious beliefs and practices, we are still responsible for living in unity and harmony, which preside over peace (the author, despite being a Muslim, married a Christian wife, and they stayed together for twenty-five years).
I was captivated by the author's traits, which made him unstoppable in comparison to other African leaders. Despite the brief flashes of violence, I appreciated how the book was incredibly universal in the sense that it made people of all types feel cared for. The book's cover and title both piqued my interest, and they were major motivators for me to read it.
The book was written in a narrative and descriptive style. The novel was well-detailed, which made it enjoyable to read because it allowed readers to imagine themselves as the protagonist, who is also the book's author. Politics, love, and religion were among the themes captured in the story. They were well-developed, making the biography's development easy to understand. The memoir had a distinct personality.
The language used was simple, making it accessible to readers of all skill levels. The book is 644 pages long and divided into 17 chapters. All the written reports are supplemented with pictures and graphics that provide an overview of the author's experiences. The book presented me with a challenge because it compelled me to consider what important things I have accomplished in my life for which I am proud and that have a positive impact on humanity.
I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. This is due to the fact that the book has been professionally edited, and the editorial skills are excellent. The language used was simple to understand, and the themes flowed smoothly. I recommend the book to anyone who is interested in history, particularly African history. Because of how informative this book is, every student majoring in history should add it to their reading list.
