I believe we can all agree that we go wrong due to a lack of knowledge. The war on drug addiction has been in existence for quite some time now. Unfortunately, the war does not seem to end. We are aware that it's not logical to go to war without weapons. The same applies to drug addiction, we cannot fight it without clear understanding and knowledge.

Why Can't Jonny Quit? by Kyle Oh, M.D.Is a book educating people on addiction. The author has taken the time to differentiate between drug abuse and drug addiction. His primary focus is facilitating people to obtain a better understanding of drug addiction so that the battle against addiction can be won. The book contains some of the drugs that are addictive, why some get hooked and others don't, why others relapse, and different cases of Kyle's patients. Having worked as a specialist in pain management, Kyle has written the book with so much compassion and understanding from the analysis made by his patients. He has put more emphasis on addiction to pain medication.

The author has given explanations of the terms. This gives a clear understanding of the medical terms giving the reader an easy time reading. He has given approaches in form of questions to understand the addiction. I liked how he employed the use of learning from the known to the unknown to hasten the understanding of addiction. This is evident when he said, 'all zebras are mammals, but not all mammals are zebras.'What I loved most was how he emphasized genetic predisposition. This is something unique that most are unaware of, and I believe that if all of us can view drug addiction from the genetic point of view, then the war on addiction will come to a halt. Some of the concepts were repeated, and the author did it to serve as a remembrance, which according to me was of great help in remembering.

After reading the whole book you will all agree with me that, Kyle did an awesome job in fulfilling his intent. I did not dislike any part of this book. I didn't come across any errors. Therefore, I give this book a just rating of 4 out of 4 stars. The book does not contain profane language, therefore, it can be read by everyone. This is because those around us are suffering from addiction and we can take responsibility for helping them. The book is educative, easy to understand, and elaborative.
