Strong Hearth is an amazing book. A story of a native America girl who suffered abuse from a man that previously abused her mother. It showcases some pitfalls in law enforcement and politics. As a native African, with no prior knowledge of the native American cultures, this was an adventure for me! It is quite interesting to see how much cultures can have in common despite the obvious vast diversity.
The book teaches a lot of lessons from morals to politics and human nature. Here are a few I gathered: Trust should not just be given to anybody because they look nice. This was what happen in the case of Raymond, one of Buckhorn's rangers, and Myra. Why did he bring his colleagues to Myra's crew camp? On would say that Myra should have never trusted him anyways. Greed can lead to self-destruction. Of course, greed for power started long ago, I understand clearly why "pretty face" was so cruel towards the end and finally died. Courage is supreme. Sarah (strong heart) was admired in her dream world because of her courage to do anything humanly possible. She could peddle the canoe even with bleeding hands. She became a very good thrower. Success generates envy from rivals. With strong heart's ability to learn quickly, she became good with the spear and out of a sudden fall in enmity with pretty face. He attempted killing her, but that would have backfire terribly. So, he and his allies sought to take down the forces that supported her.

The story got me thinking about many different things. What could have been if Sarah had entered the home of her dream world friends and got initiated according to their tradition? What could have been the results of the dating of the ancient artifact? Could it have indicated that people have lived in North America forever? Could some of the animals that are considered extinct in modern world be living somewhere distant on this earth? How accurate is science in dating how long humans might have lived on this plant?

It is truly a great peace for lovers of sciences such as archeology, anthropology, and geography. My hopes were dashed when the ancient artifact was destroyed. Though it is a fiction, I thought the writer would give a hint about when people may have started living in North America. The author put in a great deal of suspense and kept me on my tablet for hours! I would rate the book 3 out of 4. Strongly recommend it!
