Gringo: My life on the edge as an international fugitive is a titillating story of the life of Dan 'Tito' Davis written by him in collaboration with Peter Conti.

Tito always wanted to get rich and fast. Not averse to hard work, he picked up jobs and skills that helped him make lots of money, but it was never enough. In his hunger to earn more, he gets into the drug game. This novel takes us through Tito's life as a drug dealer on the run from the US federal system. It also gives us a few glimpses into his family and student life. Tito started with dealing ephedrine and moved to the likes of weed and cocaine while befriending drug dealers and hitmen along the journey. He went from being an excellent student to a drug peddler to serving time in prison and then becoming an international fugitive.

This thrilling story has friendship, love, violence, humor, and all the elements to keep you on the edge of your seat. The story catches pace once Tito is accused of a crime he did not commit. His escape to South America with limited knowledge of Spanish and no official papers is filled with unique experiences and struggles to stay out of the radar. Here he makes unexpected friends, is benefitted from the generosity of strangers, indulges himself, and makes foolish mistakes. Dan and Peter bring this story to life in a very gripping and fascinating style.

The characters are well developed, vividly, and colorfully described. Peter and Dan have chosen some entertaining episodes from Dan's life to break the monotony of a drug peddler's life on the run. The storytelling is captivating and flows smoothly.

While I like everything about the book, I did not appreciate the way an eating disorder has been mentioned tactlessly and forgotten, making it seem trivial. This however has not made me deduct any ratings as the book is exceptionally well written in my opinion.

The book has been professionally edited and I found no errors in the same. There is some profanity in English as well as Spanish and a few sexual scenes which have been handled with tact. I enjoyed the writing and the author's willingness to share intimate details of his life with the readers. I give this book four out of four stars. It is an easy read and will be enjoyed by anyone who likes thrillers, autobiographies, and page-turners.
