[Following is a volunteer review of "Randy the Irresistible" by S M Goodier.]
Leaving home for personal life isn't smooth and actually if possible, one should stay with the parents till venturing outside is favorable. The book Randy the Irresistible portrays the very same image since Randy the main character, is trying out his potential in the job industry which happens to be a rough road since he encounters not only financial challenges but also various sexual advances he dislikes. Alcoholism didn't spare a chance as well as theft at times but his connection to his home does him good.
The author S M Goodier has managed to tackle the dominant issue tackling this youthful generation and what is more encouraging is that Randy isn't immoral or rather doesn't behave like a prostitute though the chances are available. There is a key emphasis on parents playing an active role since Randy's dad walks with him through getting to adapt to the field rather better than he was able to. Education is also portrayed to be of importance since he was still studying yet had a good job.
Settling for less isn't an option as portrayed by Randy's urge to work in London in some big firm regardless of having a rather good job and being the supervisor holding the key. A reader can also get to know how people are cunning out here since on some occasions he clashed with housemates on various issues which made him relocate. Again, thanks to good friends, he manages to share a home with his friend after signing an agreement. We should also value people who show us they care since sooner or later we will end up needing that concern in our lives since we are beings governed by love. Randy didn't rush for a family yet he had a good job, that poses as a lesson, and a good one indeed.
The book is well done from the chapters which have been broken into various short busts to enhance reading. The font and spacing are also remarkable and quite commendable. The book's setting also elevates a reader since it is classy. British English also proves interesting and fun to read. A British slang guide is attached at the end of the book to aid a reader get to understand their meanings. Dialogue has been used in various instances hence elevating a reader's spirits. Needless to say, the book is exceptionally edited.
I rather disliked the constant mention and involvement of sexual activities or those relating to the same. I rate the book 3 out of 4 stars due to its constant reverberation of sexual activities and the lack of thrill from my point of view. I hence recommend it to fresh graduates who'll take it up as a teacher since it portrays experience and necessary skills needed out there as one plans to be fully responsible for their life.
