Review of Marc Marci

[Following is a volunteer review of "Marc Marci" by Larry G. Goldsmith.]
Marc Fields is a shy, loner teenage nerd, hiding behind his computer and online games, and a giant French horn. He soon becomes an orphan, following the death of both his parents from their bicycle ride accident. Even though he was completely not alone, thanks to his uncle Jack, nothing could fill the empty void left by his parents. Feeling alone, grief-stricken and seeking something that would help him feel closer to them, Marc sets out on a trip to Europe to visit the places his parents went to when they were younger. What he didn’t know was that this trip would do more than help him grieve his parents, it would also not just change his life. But it would transform it, literally and it would separate a boy from a woman.
The change of his life began in Europe, where he made his first real and not virtual friends, but his sharp turn took place in London, where he was supposed to be visiting them. We learn that Marc had an underlying issue of identity crisis, which surfaced later, exhibiting his life becoming an epitome of a caterpillar transforming to a beautiful butterfly, changing from one thing to the next, but ultimately beautiful.
Of all the nice things I can say about this book, there is just one tiny little thing I didn’t like; Marci’s excessive emotions. I have never seen such an emotional woman, forever crying, even though all the tears were mostly for joy, but still, an over-draping is an over-draping.
The book is professionally written, edited and words are properly aligned, constructed and well put together, with very minimal grammatical errors. I enjoyed reading every chapter and was difficult to put it down. I loved everything about it: the introduction, body and the closing were all very powerful and strong, balancing the scale of the book.
For his book, I am giving Larry Goldsmith a rating of four out of four stars. This is because I enjoyed the book from start to finish, it felt real, and easy to connect or relate with the protagonist, it is also easy to read and understand. Plus, there are a lot of people who would identify with Marc and others with Marci.
I would recommend it to anyone with absolute pleasure for self-discovery purposes, life-changing decisions, for the romantic at heart, and for those who just love reading and wish to add one more book in their collection. Marc Marci is a beautiful romantic novel.
