Each person has a unique combination of spiritual gifts. But we must discern what those gifts are and use them in Christian service if we want fulfillment and satisfaction in our lives. Often, God presents us with opportunities to use those gifts in ways we may not identify at first. We need to seize those opportunities and respond to his call. These and more are what Fred Sievert teaches in the book, Fast-Starting a Career of Consequence: Practical Christ-Centered Advice for Entering or Re-Entering the Workforce, which is the basis for this workbook, Fast Starting a Career of Consequence: Workbook.

In Fast Starting a Career of Consequence: Workbook, he goes a step further to elaborate on these points. The book comprises three parts, each with a core focus. Part one serves as an introduction; part two deals with biblical principles and their application. Part three details the principles or techniques one should apply to excel in their career.

Fred Sievert teaches that we cannot separate our Christianity from our vocation, family, or other aspects of our lives. In essence, one is a Christian, a worker, and a family member at all times. And also, the principles shared in this book can be applied in all aspects of our lives. It is therefore beneficial both to Christians in the workplace and to all who expect to excel in life and service.

One chapter I appreciated most was the one that says to pray for the Holy Spirit's guidance. I think it's beautiful to pray for co-workers and see those prayers answered because this could help ease strained and difficult work relationships. And could also serve as a help for tackling difficult decisions in the workplace. I also found the spiritual gifts in the marketplace assessment quite enlightening as it exposed me more to myself. I followed the guidelines and the results I got were remarkably a reflection of the gifts I believe I have received.

Each chapter ends with action items, cautionary notes, and a prayer. Each of these allows you to think back on what you've read and see how you can imbibe each principle. This is a great addition and further highlights the value of the workbook. With this in mind, I gladly rate this book the maximum rating of four out of four stars. I give this rating because it is a workbook, but it contains sufficient information and additional resources to help one take practical action. However, it might be helpful to use it alongside the main text because the author referred to some chapters there. Also, I only found a single error that didn't detract from the text.

Though the biblical undertone might make this preferred by a particular audience, I believe the author achieved his aim to provide the most robust and meaningful advice to those who choose to pick up the book or this workbook and read them.

This seems a good book. I think that it is good to put our skills, not just the spiritual ones, into the service of humanity.
Nice review!

A book that explains more in-depth about Christianity and how it pertains to our work would be a rewarding read. Thanks for the review.
