Review of Three loves and other stories

[Following is a volunteer review of "Three loves and other stories" by Lata Gullapalli.]
How often does one ignore the tiniest of details when supposedly in love? Do gender roles exist in relationships or is it just a figment of the environment we grew up in? What would it take for a girl to be heard and seen in a strictly brought-up home? Does a soul truly live on and revisit loved ones? When in love, which takes priority, Marriage or career? Can a child who is just growing into her own thrive in a situation where she’s being bullied? Is marriage a stipulation for the daughter or the parents? Lata Gullapalli tells the tales of these situations in an interesting light. Three Loves And Other Stories is a collection of 10 stories, all of which tell the stories of how different people of today’s progressive society navigate different emotions in their lives daily and the significance attached to those emotions. It also shows how traditional practices still affect how decisions are made in their lives. It paints a perspective of how love, tolerance and respect affect their social relationships which include relationships, marriage, and career paths in the lives of each character.
There are a lot of things I liked about the book. I liked the way the author used various fascinating stories to depict the different challenges that people encounter in their lives. These stories keep the reader's rapt attention while teaching them how to approach these issues. I particularly loved how her words made me feel the desires, frustrations, vulnerability, realizations, values and raw emotions felt by the fictional characters. I also liked how each character developed in each story according to their challenges. The use of foreign language was well interpreted when used. The book was also well edited and the stories were inspirational. This book kept me entertained and taught me a lot of lessons as well.
Although I enjoyed reading the book, I did not appreciate some of the unnecessary details, explanations, and examples used by the author which made the book a little difficult to analyze at some point. There was also the use of some difficult and large words which made reading a tad tiring and confusing at some point.
I rate the book 3 out of 4 stars. Other than the things I disliked about the book, I genuinely enjoyed reading the book and I found it refreshing, educative, and insightful.
I recommend this book to readers who would like to learn how to react to different situations they find themselves in life, as well as those who want to learn how to manage their emotions.
