Review of Idiom Attack Vol. 1 Everyday Living (Spanish Edition)
I took two years of Spanish in university years ago and decided to use this book as a way to jumpstart some at-home Spanish studies. It was a good call because Idiom Attack Vol. 1 Everyday Living (Spanish Edition) by Peter Liptak is good for English speakers as well.
I managed to go through all 176 pages of this book in one day and I still learned a lot. I also brushed up on a lot of past Spanish knowledge. I enjoyed my time with this book a lot and I'm glad I picked it up. I would pick up the second volume as well if I can.
The book is easy to understand and the exercises are not advanced. It is not difficult to work with it all on your own if you have any former Spanish in your arsenal. Otherwise, you could always use a translator here and there. The sentences do have an English translation, though, so you're not going to be lost.
The exercises were simple but useful. Idioms are not all that complicated in neither English nor Spanish. My personal experience with both languages is that idioms are simply intuitive. I like studying them and you learn tons of new vocabulary through them. The correct answers to the exercises are in the book so you can check your answers and assess your progress.
I study languages on my own and I can recommend this book for that purpose. It is not unnecessarily thick and it does not meander. You get what you need out of it and you can focus on learning. I loved that.
There is nothing about this book that I disliked. I learned a lot and I had fun doing so.
For the reasons mention Idiom Attack Vol. 1 Everyday Living (Spanish Edition) by Peter Liptak 4 out of 4 stars. There are no drawbacks to studying materials like this one that I have noticed.
If you want to learn some Spanish/English (depending on your first language) then this is an awesome book to pick up. As I mentioned, I would love to go through the second volume of this. In fact, I would love to check books in this series in other languages that I have studied and am studying currently. I'm always on the lookout for good study materials since I study all on my own at home. This did not disappoint!
