The Land of Princes, a kingdom deprived of everything and The Voulhire kingdom, synonymous with prosperity in every way are antipodes. Galen Bary, a young blood from the Land of Princes arrives in the Kingdom of Voulhire to take over the steel forging business and the fortune of his late great uncle, about whom he got to know recently. Galen is overwhelmed by the opportunistic air of Voulhire and its people who have experienced anything but failure. But the kingdom of Voulhire is not as peaceful as it looks. The deserving king has his sworn rivals who are lurking into the shadows waiting for the right time to ambush. There is magic, betrayal, war, slaughter, friendship and everything that will make you read the book till the end. We are Voulhire : A New Arrival under Great Skies is the first book in the We are Voulhire series written by Matthew Tysz. And it will leave you on a cliffhanger.

The genre is fantasy and the writer has swimmingly developed a new world with its own jargon and time and space. The setting and outlook is so well explained that your brain will draw the picture immediately and you will be able to visualize “The Cosmos” (name for the human world in the book). The story revolves around more than one character and the writer has developed the story from the perspective of these different characters making the storyline intriguing and involving.

The only thing that can be a bother sometimes is a whole new dictionary of words specific to this fantasy world. Although the writer has provided a glossary and weblink directing to the history and map of the Voulhire kingdom but still it can be a hinderance while reading. However in a book of fantasy genre this is something anticipated.

For me this book deserves 4 out of 4 stars. The very first reason is the author’s bio. I’m the kind of person who reads every single page of the book and I found the author’s bio very absorbing. Apart from that the book was very well edited and everything, from the characters to the plot, twists and writing style, everything was excellent.

So if fantasy genre is your thing and even if it is not you can undoubtedly give it a try. It contains violence and profanity so I believe that it’s not for the children and those people who don’t like intense content like killing and slaughter.
