From Drift to SHIFT is a self-help book written by author Jody B. Miller. It has four parts, each explaining one crucial part of our shifting process. In her book, the author uses "drift" to identify the situations which control a person. It means the person does not have much control over his own life and drifts away with the flow. On the other hand, "shift" happens when a person takes control of his own life and lives the life which makes him happy.

The four parts of the book explain all the steps one needs to follow to make a shift. It explains why one needs to shift, when to do this shift, how to make this shift, and what comes after the shift. In each part of the book, the author follows a unique narrative. She explains her point with the success story of an individual or an experience of her own. And she adds relevant research to support her methods. At the end of every chapter, there is a section called takeaways. This part explains the key ideas of the chapter in bullet points. At the end of the book, she provides references to all the research mentioned in the book.

I liked how the author supports her statements. Each chapter of this book contains a story of an individual who overcame adversity to live their best life. And as every one of them had an interview with the author, their stories are more vivid and well-defined. The links provided to all the mentioned research also made her methods more relevant. I also liked the appendix section of the book. It contained detailed accounts of some major Hindu deities. It also explains the true meaning of Hinduism. Being a Hindu myself, I was blown away by the accurate and detailed information on the deities provided by the author. It also contained some details about the deities that were unknown to me. I found that part most interesting.

While the stories mentioned in the book were inspiring, they were lengthy. Some of them were interesting enough, while others were a bit taxing to read. Also, I would have liked to see the references to any research right where they were mentioned. It was a bit tiresome to traverse the entire book to find the relevant link. The editing was not professional. I encountered quite a few errors in this book. For these reasons, I would rate it 3 out of 4 stars.

All in all, From Drift to SHIFT is a worthwhile read if you like self-help books. It can also be helpful to people who are going through life-altering situations. It contains quite a few references to religious deities, so atheists may not like this book. Also, anyone looking for a step-by-step guide may not be satisfied with this book.

This explanation has made me very curious about the concept of "shift".
Thanks for this wonderful review. :tiphat:

I'm not one for self help books but this one sounds helpful. The author supporting her statements seems nice for those who are really into the shift concept. Nicely done review! :D

The author's "shift" concept is quite unique and helpful. But if self-help is not your genre, you may not enjoy this book. Thanks for stopping by :tiphat:
