Ellen Stellar brings out the big guns when combining science fiction and romance in her novel Kiran: The Warriors Daughter. This is the first in a series of interplanetary adventures of space cadet Kiran. Full of intrigue and fast paced, this story grabbed me and didn’t let go. From the day-to-day schemes of a teenage bookie to a slow burn childhood crush. Kiran finds herself in many a pickle, and needs her friends, and strong men in her life to pull her out, even when she doesn’t want it. This book ends as Kiran is stranded and in hiding on a hostile planet, awaiting the next saga with so many questions unanswered.

The author has great writing attributes and while reading I understood why she has so many novels and publications under her belt. Her flow pulls you along, and when you think you know what will happen next, she changes the game, or planet. I will be on the lookout for the next books, as I want to know what happens in Kiran’s story next.

Due to what I assume is a language translation barrier, there are a few syntax errors, along with misspelled words. These are easy edits that can be fixed with a good English editor. Nothing too disastrous as I understood what she was trying to convey, but nonetheless it did interrupt the flow of the read. And at times the confusion slowed my enjoyment of the situation.

While this is a great story, with many books in the series to follow, I will be rating this book a 3 out of 4 stars . The syntax errors really got my goat and I feel they could have been avoided. Any book that gets a perfect rating needs to be perfect in that aspect. I hope the editing is better in the future, as I’m sure I will be reading many more by this author.

This is very much a multi genre book series, as all good books are, and an easy lighthearted read. While there are a few intimate references, this could also be considered a possible young adult novel. No profanity or death occur, and I did not find anything that could be considered triggering. The Rights of the Strong series by Ellen Stellar would be a good addition to any library. And I hope to find it in my local county library.
