Fear Not, Dream Big, & Execute by Jeff Meyer is an unusual book of guidance for Jesus-minded people who want to step out and realize goals or dreams they have set. This book is written in two parts and is a series of mini-lessons that focus on one topic at a time. In the introduction, the author mentions that this book may be read in any order. Either starting with Part 1: Dream Sparks or Part 2: Realization Strategies. This book is rated 3 out of 4.

The first part of the book, Dream Sparks is best for those who are in the process of refining their objectives in working toward their dream. Each lesson in this part of the book is a specific actionable step toward getting in step with Jesus, the one who built dreams into us. This part of the book is exciting, encouraging, and practical. The Try This section at the end of each chapter is a great way to put the steps into action. Meyer is the coach with the most whose encouragement jumps off the page.

Realization Strategies is best for those have a firm grip on their goals and are in need of strategies to help get there. Again Meyer coaches and does not directly tell the reader how to implement these strategies. It’s refreshing to read a book that uses very practical ideas to exhort and equip dreamers.

Although this book can be read cover to cover, it would be best to decide which part to start with first and then proceed in that direction. There is a lot of meat in this book and many specific action steps. Without committing to the analysis, recommended steps, and acting upon the recommendations, the reader will be filled with lots of ideas that may not produce results. So this book is a call to action, not a call to read and digest.

Fear Not, Dream Big, & Execute is an excellent read for those who are looking to pinpoint their goals. Whether it is writing a book, starting a business, preparing a TED talk or leading a ministry this book can help leaders define their goals and find specific help in accomplishing their goals. The author has clearly researched and tried a varied amount of techniques. From the enneagram to lectio divina, Meyer introduces us to creative and life-breathing ways to follow our dreams. This is a read for leaders, innovators, and those who need the extra help converting their dreams to accomplishments.
