[Following is a volunteer review of "Tales of the 70's" by D.Done.]
The book Tales of the 70's is a collection of different stories by the author D.Done between the years 1970 and 1975. The book contains seven short stories and one novella. The first story begins with a bookstore owner, Zhen, whose wife is diagnosed with a mental illness similar to Zhen's mother. The story gives a detailed account of their life and how they met. Read to find out more about them. The next story is extremely interesting. It focuses on a character named Bob who had been a rising star in San Francisco. Unfortunately he went from being a star to being unemployed. What could have caused that? At the moment, Bob starts an organization but some of his employees begin to doubt his legitimacy. What happens next?
One of the most hilarious story in the book is the third story. The story is based on two characters, Mark and Lee. Both of the characters are burglars but work separately. However, Lee suggests that they try to work together this one time and Mark agrees. They choose a weird project which involves breaking into the zoo and stealing an Ocelot. This is very funny to me since I could not imagine the essence of owning an Ocelot. The details of the story are very funny. There are more enjoyable stories contained in the book. Take your time and give this book a try!
First and foremost, one of the things I loved about this book is the fact that it is a collection of many stories. This was amazing for me since each of the story is unique. This makes it enjoyable unlike having to read one long monotonous story from the beginning to the end. I also found the book to be hilarious especially the story of Mark and Lee when they plan to steal an Ocelot from the zoo. The other interesting fact is that the book is based on the 70's. This gives the book an authentic touch separate from technological advancements present at this age.
I did not encounter many negative aspects of this book but at the end I got lost and I did not understand the last story clearly. It was a bit complex for me to understand. The book was well edited but contained some mistakes that were obvious as I read through. The book also contains a lot of sexual scenes which was unexpected and the description of the scenes was disturbing. Other than that the book was interesting.
I would rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. The book deserves such a rating because the stories are interesting and the fact that the book is a collection of many different stories. I deducted one star because the book contains some mistakes which are easily noticeable like the spelling of syrup as sirup. The sexual content is also too much and I do not enjoy a book with so much sexual content.
I would recommend this book to a mature audience who do not mind reading a book with a lot of sexual content. I would also recommend this book to any mature audience that enjoys a collection of short stories. This book would be an amazing option for you. This book is also great for readers who enjoy books written based on a past time like this one which is based on the 70's. This book is interesting and suitable to all everyone mentioned above.
