Do you believe that companies have been forgetting about their clients? Mitche Graf thinks so. With a fascinating anecdote regarding a clueless Uber driver, Graf starts explaining how businesses have been forgetting customer service and focusing on profits. He will explain his “six stars” for customer satisfaction, going from some obvious aspects to some not so evident. At the end of the book, you will be convinced of the importance of obtaining a six-star service, and what it can do to improve your business and strive against your competitors.

Everyone knows that customer satisfaction is something that every business should strive for. The thing is, not everyone thinks they need to work on said aspect. Mitche Graf explains not only the importance of improving your customer experience but also how to keep improving every passing day. One of the aspects I appreciated most of this book is that it does not solely explain what he wants to express with his lessons, but he provides real-life examples and even in some chapters it has assessment questions to measure your progress.

Even though his advice is something everyone wanting a successful business must follow, I believe that it could be a little more actionable. Sure, everyone knows that we need to serve our customers with respect. But, maybe a bit of more actionable advice would be appreciated. This happens throughout the book, even though they are good advice, they are still missing that extra mile, and makes them sound a little too obvious.

Besides the repetitiveness of some of the advice presented in the book, I give it 3 out of 4 stars. This book provides a pleasant reminder of what customer service is and what you should focus on when creating or managing a customer-facing business. As a non-fiction book, this one is a pretty pleasant experience to read. The book is well-written and pretty digestible, perfect if you genuinely enjoy one-sit readings or only short books that go straight to the point.

I would recommend this book to anyone that is a business owner, preferably a customer-centric business. This book will encourage you to recognize the importance of customer experience in thriving in this competitive business world. Customer Service is DEAD: Delivering 6-Star Service In A 1-Star World by Mitche Graf is a good reminder guide for realizing what good customer service is and what you should undertake to achieve it.
