Shadow Game by A.M. Adair is an action-thriller novel that follows Elle Anderson, who has been sent by the CIA to destroy a sinister terrorist organization. Along with her team, she devises a plan to destabilize the terrorist regime. She is also aware that one misstep can lead to the death of her team.

Reading this book was a terrific experience. Not only was the plot very well written, it felt like I was present in the story. Only a few novels have the power of pulling the reader inside the pages, and this book is one of them. The story was fast-paced from the very beginning and never slowed down. The atmosphere was always tense with a feeling that something might go wrong at any moment. Kudos to the author for writing a story that is grounded in reality. No aspect of the plot was exaggerated in any manner.

The strong characters of the story complimented the fast-moving plot, and it enhanced the reading experience. I loved the characters, and their emotions seemed genuine, especially while dealing with a moral crisis during a mission. Their interaction with each other was heart-warming and made me care for them. More than a team, they seemed like a family that gave warmth to an otherwise dark story. The author weaved the technical aspects of a secret mission perfectly into the plot without disturbing the pace or making the reader overwhelmed with unwanted information.

The action scenes were excellently written without going into graphic details and were the highlight of the story. I loved that this book has a strong female protagonist who is brave and capable of doing anything she sets her mind on. Also, this story gives the reader a glimpse into the world of terrorists and how they operate. It only makes us respect the security forces even more.

I give this book a rating of 4 stars out of 4. There wasn't a single thing that I didn't like. The brilliant blend of emotion and action will keep the readers engaged till the end. The book is professionally edited, and I couldn't find a single error. This book is strictly for adult readers. There are a few cuss words, a torture scene, and a graphic attempt-to-rape scene. So, if these things make you uncomfortable, you can skip these parts. If action-thriller is the genre you like, you should not miss this book.
