[Following is a volunteer review of "Jesus, Prosperity Gospel and Poverty in Africa" by Elijah Oladimeji.]
Chances are if asked about life in Africa, one might describe famine, uneven distribution of wealth, tribalism, corruption, and diseases. And if asked about the solutions, people rarely suggest to have faith and become partakers of the divine nature. However, the author of JESUS-PROSPERITY GOSPEL, AND POVERTY IN AFRICA, Elijah Oladimeji, reveals the intersection of poverty and faith in our life by giving the examples from Christianity in Africa. The book is 69 pages long and contains personal stories from their senior pastors, a boy who got his dream miraculously, and the perspective of Christianity by Oladimeji himself.
The book discusses key lessons like the power of faith, prayer, fasting, praise, and trust in God. Elijah Oladimeji wrote his messages in a manner that his recipients could understand the struggle of Africans for having basic needs that Europeans and many other countries have long been resolved. While exercising persistent pray, the author shows his struggles, unspeakable gladness, and triumphs. He displayed keen observation and appreciation for God's power that takes over the darkness of time.
One thing I liked the most about the book is that the author amplifies what a real definition of born again. The author puts a beautiful glimpse of his brother's story as he transformed dramatically after got born again. How a regular man gave up his worldly desires after being touched by the Holy Spirit. I am captivated that real Christians are being revealed through this book as an easy reminder for readers to measure how they have been living after becoming a new creature in Christ.
This book can uplift people who are waiting for God to change their circumstances. Whether they're waiting for physical healing, financial breakthrough, or better relationships. The lesson I loved the most was never to underestimate the power of believers who pray, the impacts are tremendous and unpredictable. There is nothing I detested about the book. I earnestly rate the book 3 out of 4 stars. I recommend it to those who want to find out how faithful God is. The book is equally suitable for all ages.
