[Following is a volunteer review of "Soul Seeker" by Kaylin McFarren.]
Soul Seeker by Kaylin McFarlane is a fiction novel of the C/T/M/H genre. Its plot deals with doubt, mistrust, secrecy and new relationships.
The novel begins with Benjamin Poe, a death-row convict, confessing to his lawyer the truth behind his crime, a tormenting tale involving a sadistic, soul-collecting demon named Crighton. In the second part of the novel following Poe's death, Crighton continues his work for the devil until he is tricked and captured by an organisation of scientists, renowned for experimenting on all kinds of supernatural creatures, called The Sovereign Sector. The scientists confine Crighton with the very angel whose soul he set out to capture for Lucifer, whilst also impelling them into a soulmate relationship. Following this situation, Crighton quickly becomes the target of Lucifer's revenge as loyalties shift and old secrets come to light.
Whilst reading, I discovered a handful of profanities varying in severity which allowed me to connect with the characters due to their realistic descriptions. There were also multiple erotic scenes which I would give an overall rating of 2/5.
Kaylin McFarlane writes her characters in a way that they exhibit a wide range of emotions which, once again, creates more realistic characters.
Upon reading McFarlane's work, I feel compelled to delve into similar novels, particularly in the C/T/M/H genre which seems to be filled with some many twists and turns that leave me gasping, waiting to turn the page.
I think that this novel is one that can be read, understood and loved by people from a multitude of backgrounds. It left me longing for a sequel, wishing that I could know more about Crighton's story and how he will continue in life. This novel is noticeably well-edited with little-to-no errors regarding grammar or spelling, which leads to my rating. I thoroughly believe that Soul Seeker deserves the rating of 4 out of 4 stars. If a sequel is released, I, for one, can certainly say that I'll be one of the first to read it.
