How to Be Successful, written by M. Curtis McCoy, is a motivational book with real-life success stories of several individuals. The life lessons shared apply to relationships, business, family, leadership, and other areas to help the readers in their journey for a successful balanced life not just financially.

This is a very well structured book, and the writer shares his personal success story as well as the challenges he encountered including being diagnosed with and surviving cancer. The chapters are in an interview format clearly outlining very practical success principles observed by the interviewees these include being a problem solver, surrounding oneself with positive people, engaging in physical exercise, maintaining a balanced diet, and generally taking daily steps to improve by continually learning through the internet, reading and other methods.

Mccoy put in a lot of effort into putting this book together and it is a success manual that is very instructive for steps to attaining all-round success. There were several points on key values of successful people such as courage, honesty, integrity, loyalty, commitment, and resilience. I particularly enjoyed the book recommendations from those interviewed as they serve as great references for further reading while underscoring that readers are leaders.

The book was well-edited, there were no typographical errors. The grammatical structuring is very good. This book is a page-turner and should appeal to readers within the age range of 13 to 50. it is a very instructive book with a lot of lessons to learn particularly on preparing oneself for opportunities so that once these opportunities are available advantage is taken of them, knowing your gifts, strengths, and weaknesses as well as practicing delayed gratification by resisting immediate rewards which take self-discipline, restraint and self-control. This is a book that should be reread several times over as it serves as a guide or a manual for success.

I would rate this book 4 out of 4 stars, it was a thoroughly enjoyable and rewarding read. The vast experiences garnered from those interviewed were very valuable, down to earth and relatable, even as they also shared the challenges they still struggle with and their actions to overcome them. The book emphasizes the power of belief in the innate abilities every individual has been endued with by God, proper time management, taking charge of your life, and overcoming hardships or setbacks. Mccoy shares his Christian faith, belief in the power of prayer, and the importance of persistence through failure to achieve great success.
