Did you know your heart could heal physical pain and discomfort? Dominique Bourlet explains this unique concept in his book: Happy Healing. Dominique developed an interest in using the body to heal itself from his work as a horse whisperer. The technique requires the patient to follow his eight magic steps, healing the body, mind, and spirit, without the use of conventional medicine.

The concepts in the book are unique and require the reader to have an open mind. You have to assign your body parts human characteristics like name and gender, hold discussions with your painful body part and find a solution to the pain together. You will also assign an appropriate name to your pain. There is a guide on how to go about selecting a name. Learn that pain does not have to be negative. There are some positive aspects to it. Dominique is incredibly passionate about his work and offers detailed explanations of his methods.

I would be remiss if I did not advise caution when adopting some of the concepts in the book. Some medical situations demand more attention than a discussion with the painful body part. A tumor will not disappear because you talked with it, nor will a broken limb heal because you befriended it. I find it alarming that Dominique tried to dissuade people from seeking modern medical solutions to their ailments. The author’s discriminate view of modern medicine makes me deduct one point, giving the book 3 out of 4 points.

Happy healing is a self-help book. I am glad the author provided diagrams and supplementary material, making it easier to grasp the concepts. The use of real-life experiences further rendered credibility to his work. It is a short book, easy to read in one sitting. However, if you would like to implement his technique take your time reading the book. I did not enjoy the writing style. It felt like I was reading case studies. There were no grammatical errors detected. The language was respectful.

Although I disagreed with some of the ideas, I did enjoy reading Happy Healing. My key takeaway is that pain is my body’s way of communicating its distress. I doubt I will be talking to my pain or body part any time soon, but I am willing to explore holistic ways of alleviating minor aches and pains. If you are open to homeopathic treatment then grab yourself a copy. People suffering from chronic pain will also find the concepts in this book helpful.

I always find it dangerous when people try to tell us not to use conventional medicine. What works for one person won't for another, and although I'm convinced about the mind's healing power, I agree with you that some illnesses need medical assessment. For the reasons you've given I probably won't read this book. Thank you for your review though!

Your right Yvonne, what works for you might not work for me. Thank you for stopping by.

Thanks for your honesty. Looks like the author is leaning towards the "kiss it better" method. Sometimes, it will work for minor, non-lethal injuries. But yes, as you stated, damaged organs won't heal by your mentally commanding them to fix themselves. They require external interference. I find the author's proposal quite dangerous, especially for those who are short on money and try to avoid modern solutions as much as they can.

I am currently reading this book. So far so good, but I also wouldn't forego modern medicine for self-healing.

It is true that some people might choose to try Dominique's concepts to avoid paying costly medical fees, which might cause more harm than good.

This a quite interesting book. But I think that we need to use professional medical help. Great review!

Great review. It's bad that the author discourages people not to seek medical help.

It's certainly an interesting idea - healing pain by talking to it. I can see it working in certain cases (for example, an anxiety-induced stomach ache might actually go away if we pay closer attention to it and its needs) but definitely not all the time. Thank you for your great review!

Self-healing through meditation, yoga or lifestyle change still feels more digestible treatment methods to me than talking to the illness or the body parts. And yes, I agree that such methods cannot be applied to all kinds of illnesses. Some severe conditions need urgent medical attention. I hope the book does not misguide people into following a treatment method that might not be suitable or beneficial for them. Thanks for sharing your insights on the topic. I appreciate your honesty in the review. Great job!👍

Thank you for your comment. It is important to consider which form of medicine is best depending on the situation.
