[Following is a volunteer review of "We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies" by Matthew Tysz.]
We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies is a work of fiction written by Matthew Tysz. The book is the introduction to a series of fantasies books entitled We are Voulhire. And this story narrates the trajectory of two men in Voulhire: Galen Bray and Eldus Alderman.
After being appointed as the heir to the inheritance of his uncle, who was a blacksmith in a town in Voulhire called Magnum Caelum, Galen Bray finds the perfect opportunity to escape from his homeland, which was in a war. Once in Voulhire Galen is going to have to master his uncle's profession in order to keep his legacy. And it's also where he will discover a lot of new things about life. And Lord Eldus Alderman, a man trusted by the king of Voulhire is entrusted to rule a city that has suffered by the hands of two previous rulers; one of them accused to harm children and the other who is a powerful mage and also deemed as an enemy of Voulhire's kingdom. In an attempt to win the trust of the inhabitants and lead the city to higher status of development, Eldus Alderman ends up discovering things about the previous rulers that totally change his life and purpose with the city.
The book was written using both Formal and Informal language, which makes some vocabulary difficult to perceive at first sight, however, the same style of language makes the story authentic and interesting. And I congratulate the author for style used while writing the book.
However, as the same author said, the plot of the book is difficult to grasp, beacause as you read the book, you perceive that elements of a story such as setting, plot, and point of view are constantly changing. And also the flow of the story; it doesn't narrate a single story from the begining to the end, but different episodes from the stories of the main characters in the story without establishing a real conection with one another.
I noticed very few mistakes, but in general, the story is very interesting, and I recommend it to everyone who enjoys fantasies and fiction works. and for any reader who enjoys reading interesting stories. I rate this book with 3 stars out of 4
