[Following is a volunteer review of "How To Be Successful" by M. Curtis McCoy.]
How To Be Successful by M. Curtis McCoy is an intensely motivational book. The reader will enjoy being taken on a literary journey on how to be successful in life.
This book reveals several lessons such as how to handle failure, how to become successful and how to behave after success is achieved. It further explores various areas in one's life and how each area can be improved. Indeed, one's career, relationships, spirituality and personal goals are examined and the reader is advised on how best to succeed in each of these areas.
I particularly like the fact that McCoy exposes his own personal trials and tribulations to his readers. He then goes on to discuss how he is able to conquer them and thrive in his life. This undoubtedly inspires hope and motivation in his readers to overcome their own obstacles and move forward in their lives.
I also enjoyed reading the interviews that he had conducted with persons from diverse backgrounds such as a Nay Seal Sniper, a technology expert, a pastor and even his own mother. These interviews share insight into these individuals' views on a number of issues such as what does it mean to be successful, how best can one deal with hardships and what advice should be given to 18 year old persons.
I honestly cannot think of anything that I do not like in this book. It is well-written and very well planned out. As such, I will recommend that persons of all ages read it as it applies to everyone and can inspire a reader to embrace life and live it to its fullest. Nevertheless, it should be noted that persons who do not believe in God may not appreciate the number of Biblical references made by McCoy.
As far as rating this book is concerned, I will rate it a 4 out of 4 stars. This is so as it is completely genuine and relatable. A reader can only end this book with a determination to become a better person and knowledge on how best to handle any situation (good or bad) that may arise.
I have read a lot of self-help books in my time. However, I can say that McCoy's How To Be Successful is among the most relevant and enjoyable ones I have encountered to date. A superb read.
