Review by Echez_ -- The Blue Sea Monster
Well, this book took me back to the good old days. When my mum would always read me to sleep with lots of amazing bedtime stories. Honestly, Norma Fleagane, James Fleagane, and Blake James Ward did a great job in putting up this book – The Blue Sea Monster.
The Blue Sea Monster is quite an adventurous children’s book that talked about Blake’s adventure with his grandpa as they tried to save their neighborhood from the hands of a dreaded blue sea monster tormenting them. The story goes like this – once upon a time in Palm Beach, Florida, there once lived a huge sea monster that would always come out from the beach to steal children away from their parents. This sea monster would always take them to an unknown Island. This went on, till Blake and his grandpa got tired of the repeated incident and then decided to weigh in on the matter. They drove to the airport and off they went with a helicopter in search of the monster and the kids it took with him. Obviously, it was a whole new adventure on another level. The question now is, will Blake and his grandpa succeed in their huge rescue mission?
Well, I liked a lot about this book. To start with, Kids always like to play or be a hero. The author putting up little Blake and his grandpa as the heroes against a big bad monster would definitely spike off some good feelings among kids. It’s almost like “the hero and his side-kick.” I believe kids would love the storyline. Then, I also liked how each page with text was explained or shown in an illustration on the subsequent page. That way, Kids will relate faster. However, the illustrations were also colorful and attractive.
Meanwhile, there is just one thing I disliked about the book. In the middle of the story, some scenes did not add up. The author introduced a character – Sneaky, the mountain monster going to a meeting with other monsters. After that, the author killed the scene there, keeping the readers hanging without knowledge of what happened next.
In spite of that, the book looks great for kids. I did not find any grammatical error, the book was properly written and well-edited. Therefore, I would rate it 4 out of 4 stars.
