[Following is a volunteer review of "Cynthia and Dan" by Dorothy May Mercer.]
Cynthia Patterson is the Chief Investigator and bodyguard for Senator Mike McBride, who poses as his receptionist for cover. Cynthia has a plan to take down terrorists who are using social media to recruit young people. She teams up with her brother, Glenn Patterson, owner of Fairfax Private Investigators, to wedge a cyber war against these terrorists, without being detected.
While driving home from her brother's office, a drone landed on the White House lawn, which caused everywhere to be on lockdown. She was rescued by a stranger, Sky Eastman, who kept her company the whole time. While in Eastman's company, they did something in the heat of the moment, which will have a huge impact on their lives. Cynthia tries to find out who Sky is. Will they succeed in taking down the terrorists? Who is Sky? What will happen to Cynthia and Sky? Read Cynthia and Dan to know more.
Romance, suspense, mystery. These three words sum up Cynthia and Dan by Dorothy May Mercer. I listened to the audio version of the book, and it was wonderful. It was read by Scott Ellis, and he did a good job with it. I had no idea how the book would turn out when I started listening, and when I was done, I was blown away. The author did a good job with the suspense and buildup of the storyline. It was engaging. The scenes were well described.
The book has 20 chapters, and since I listened to the audio version, my review would not cover the errors and editing. Few borderline profane words are used, and it contains erotic scenes. Based on this, I am not recommending this book to young readers. The book has political mentions, with links to the White House, and some terrorist groups. It also covers abortion, and the use of contraceptives. This makes me not to recommend this book to people who do not agree with this.
I like the relationship Cynthia had with her brother, Glenn. I also like the relationship Senator Mike and his wife had with Cynthia. My favourite characters are Tim, and his friend Garth. They are really smart with nice sense of humor. The fact that Sky did not force Cynthia to make any decision is what I like about him. He was bold, and respectful of her wishes. At the end of the book, the author gave a run down of all the characters, which I liked. This helped me remember some of the characters, which helped in my review.
Dan McIntyre is my worst character. He let his jealousy get the best of him. Even with this, I am still rating this book 4 out of 4 stars. It is an amazing read, which I am recommending to everyone out there, other than the ones listed above.
