I am an avid reader of every genre. Reading takes you to so many different places. Opaque by Calix Leigh-Reign was no exception. I rate this book four out of four stars. I gave it this rating because it kept me on the edge of my seat. It was exceptionally flawless. I work full-time and take care of a teenager, so I don't have much time for reading, but it's definitely a book that I would have ignored everything for and just read straight through if I could have. The author keeps you interested until the end. The character development is exceptional and you find yourself wanting to identify with at least one of them. There were at least a couple parts where I felt so much for one or two of them that I almost teared up.

This book takes place in high school. I would definitely recommend it to young adult readers. I was invested in this book from the first few pages. There was no vulgar language or inappropriate sexual situations. There were a few situations where the characters kissed or had heated discussions, but nothing that I don't feel young adults couldn't read. It was all very similar to young adult books that are out now. The situations are mature at times, so I would say that readers should be at least fourteen to fifteen years of age.

Calix Leigh-Reign did a exceptional job with telling this story. Adam's relationship with his mom is something a little worrisome, but the story brings it all together. There's not really anything I can say that I didn't like about this book. When you read a book, there are at least some parts that you may not like so much, but there are times when you find that book that you just really enjoy and you treasure those books. This book was enjoyable until the end.

Adam and Carly have something special from the first day that Carly walks into their classroom. The way that their relationship develops is something that everyone wishes they had in their relationships. The love that they have for one another is one of a kind. People want that someone that can't live without them and this is what Carly and Adam have.

The story of the Descendants and the Russian bloodline was an interesting take. The author does a great job at building that other world and the people in it. Readers will enjoy the storyline. Sometimes, storylines can get tedious and boring, but Calix Leigh-Reign described the history of the bloodline in a way that keeps you interested and doesn't have you trailing off in your thoughts wondering when it will be over. I would definitely recommend this book to friends.
