[Following is a volunteer review of "The Mindset" by Ace Bowers.]
Have you ever read a memoir that checks all the boxes of a fiction? Well, this is one of them. Ace Bowers tells the story of his journey from a janitor to a Silicon Valley entrepreneur. This happened because he had the right motivations and chose not to give up. The writer grew up in a chaotic environment. His parents were always fighting and his brother was always in and out of jail. After finishing high school he could not go to college because his father lived from paycheck to paycheck and had not saved money for his college education. In spite of being surrounded by failure and instability throughout his childhood somehow he still managed to develop the right mindset and became a millionaire.
I was amazed by how the author managed to summarize his life journey into 101 pages. The mindset is a very inspirational memoir which can be a motivation to people who are in a very low point of their life and don’t know how to bounce back up. The author and also the main character, Ace Bowers is a conqueror. He went against all odds and broke his cycle of poverty and developed an “overcomes mindset” to eventually become a millionaire at the age of 28 years old.
What I love most about this book is the fact that he has talked about all the emotions he experienced in his journey. When I started reading this book, I thought he will basically talk about the journey from being a janitor to being a Silicon Valley millionaire, but he added some essence of love. He talked about his relationships with his family, his friends, his wife and his kids which made this memoir quite an interesting read. There is nothing I hated about this book.
This book is a very easy and quick read. It was professionally edited and proofread. I did not notice any grammatical mistakes or typos, and I was really impressed by that. It had a really coherent flow. With that being said, I do not find any reason to take any stars away from my ratings. I rate it 4 out of 4 stars.
Readers who love real life stories of how to overcome hard situations in life would like this book. People from all religious backgrounds will enjoy this book. Neither profanity nor sex were seen in this book. There is no need of putting any ''Parental Guidance'' tag on this book.
