The Mindset by Ace Bowers is an inspirational novel to persons not living their best life at the moment and a thank you novel to the persons that influenced his success and made him the person he is today. The book is non fictional and is in fact a memoirs of sort. It tells the story of a boy growing up with his brother and sister in a family that is sort of dysfunctional. The boy grows up into a young man that knows nothing about the way the world works in terms of money and credit and has to burn to learn. Situations in his life eventually force him to develop a mindset that leads him to wealth and a happier existence.

What is most interesting about this book is the similarities of the boy’s situation to countless millions out in the world. Most people just trudge through life without a purpose or a specific goal to drive their actions. Mr. Bowers describes, in easy to understand points of reference, his situation and how it inspired the change in his life that eventually allowed him to escape the cycle of poverty and become the millionaire he is today.

I did not agree with the way the last sections of the book were presented because it seemed that he was finished with his story and was just giving acknowledgement to the persons that most influenced his life. I felt that this should have been incorporated into the telling of his success story. His sister did not play a major role in his life and was basically ignored while a lot of emphasis was placed on his brother. In the chapter where he described his brother, the situation where his wife, Yuka, first meets his brother was being described and there was suddenly a change in the subject and the situation was never mentioned again. This was sort of disappointing because the relationship between what I felt were the two persons that influenced his early life before marriage is of some interest to the reader.

I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars because the story was very captivating and held my attention even though it was not a fictional novel. There were grammatical errors but this did not deter from the story.

There was no instance of intimacy and only one instance of the use of obscene language. In my opinion this book is suitable for everyone and is especially inspirational and helpful to persons that were born into poverty and are looking for a real life success story with which to model their life.
