The author of this book, Jorge P Newberry, is a successful entrepreneur, endurance athlete, real estate investor, distressed debt investor, and author. He tells his life story and all he has endured in this book, Burn Zones: Playing life's bad hands . He starts with his first job at the age of 7, a newspaper boy. What follows is his many endeavors and life challenges.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It was interesting and captivated my interest. It was hard to put this book down. I liked and admired Jorge's passion and determination. He was certainly not afraid to take a chance or to try something completely new. I love where he says:" I control myself and no one else does. If I got myself into trouble, I needed to get myself out. No one else was going to do that for me.” It made me think hard about my own life and the decisions I make and still have to make. It gives one the courage to take anything on.

I enjoyed reading about Jorge’s childhood. The ambitions he had and the hard work he did as a child. I also liked the way his parents always supported his dreams. I admire his relationship with his dad and how he always tried to protect them from his troubles. I liked that he overcame his shyness. He has great talent and skills and is not afraid to push himself. This is an adventurous book with real-life scenarios in it and real-life troubles and accomplishments. I liked how he did not give up no matter how hard things got. Jorge is a true hero in my eyes and a great role model. The only thing I did not enjoy reading about was racism and diversity.

Quote: “Everyone’s life is full of burn zones, which test the limits of our bodies and minds." The author encourages us to endure our difficult times and try to go through them at an easy pace because we will get through them.

There were very few minor grammatical and typographical errors in this book. I feel that it was well edited. There are no profanities in this book and no erotic scenes.

With great joy I give Burn Zones: Playing life's bad hands a 4 out of 4 stars because of the great pace in the book and the enjoyment in reading it. I recommend this book to young adults and adults alike. Anyone who needs encouragement should read this book. People who enjoy life stories should read this book.

The book is a simple narrative of the author’s life and his experience, rather than a preachy “how-to guide” to instant success. Loved reading it. I really enjoyed your review. 🙂
