Bruce Francois, an engineer working for Disney, believed that he was living his purpose while he had a very successful career, fulfilling his financial dreams, in a country where he started from scratch. An unexpected event led him to lose everything, realizing that he was not happy even before. He used every experienced struggle as an opportunity to discover who he really was and to find his real purpose in life. He shares this experience in his book My Purpose, explaining what resources he used and what he learned through his own personal journey. Finding that he was able to discover his purpose is hopeful. Sharing his journey to help others to find it is inspiring.

My Purpose is a self-improvement book that presents Bruce’s experience to find his purpose and how you can find it too. He used his background as an engineer and Christian, to present a unique approach in 10 chapters that he recommends to read in sequence to take advantage of the guiding principles, actionable keys and self-reflection activities.

What I like the most about this book is that it is offering a workbook at the end that you can use to put in practice all the principles presented by the author. My Purpose is also a very useful guide if you have tried to start a journal and you just don’t know how, there are several questions to reflect on several topics that you can use. Another unique feature of My Purpose is that it presents at the end of each chapter affirmations that you can use to reset your mindset and replace negative thoughts that we easily develop and stop us from advancing in life.

I appreciate Francois is supporting his experience and suggestions with scientific and spiritual point of views, these make you to continue reading regardless if you are skeptical or spiritual type of person. If you are going through a difficult time, this book will help you to view your struggles as great opportunities to learn and grow. If you are happily in your comfort zone, this book helps you too to reflect if you are really experiencing your purposeful living experience. My Purpose makes you to start to believe, from your heart and your mind, that if you really want to, you can have a life filled with impact, be a better person, and serve others.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars because it is well edited and easy to read. The author uses engineering methodologies that I would not expect can be used for these type of subjective and personal topics, presenting real life examples that anyone, with different backgrounds, can understand and apply. As the author mentions, this book has an awakening process that you can apply to your life to become the best you.
