The novel Geraldine is a fictional romance book written by Edmund M. Aristone. The author as weaved a captivating story about love, death, suicide and friendship. It is a very realistic story that touched my heart. The author gives us a in-depth look into Tom and Geraldine's life. We see the hardship they faced to be together. The author shows us how difficult life is for a person living with a mental illness.

The book starts of with Tom and Paula who are living together. Paula is pregnant and wants to have an abortion because she feels that it is not the right time for her to have a child. Tom is against the abortion. Paula goes against Tom and have the abortion. They both feel their relationship is going nowhere and break-up but remain friends.Paula introduced him to her friend Geraldine whom he is instantly attracted to. She is very beautiful and a very talented artist. She is diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Her medication effects the way she paints. They fall in-love and move in together. Tom helps her deal with her illness.

All the characters were well-developed. The plot of the story is well-thought-out. I liked that the chapters were short, it made reading very easy. What I liked most in this novel is that Tom excepted Geraldine illness, and he helped her cope with it. He did not judge her or find faults in her. He excepted her for who she was. It also great that author includes lesbian characters in the novel. It is a good love story that was very intriguing. It helped me understand how a person with mental illness copes in everyday life. It took Geraldine a long to except her illness. She saw it as a curse and had no expectation in life. She thought her illness was going to kill her. When she met Tom, he gave her hopes and dreams for the future. The author is very talented to have written such a gripping romance novel. There is nothing I dislike about this novel.

My favourite character is Tom. When he found out the chief residents was performing a procedure under the influence of alcohol, he got angry and broke his finger. That got him suspended. He helped a child from choking. He knew he could get arrested but did not care. Saving the child's life was more important.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. This book is professionally edited. I recommend this book to adults who love to read about romance. I look forward to reading more books by this author.

As always, every book that has elaborate characters has an elaborate plot of the whole story, as well as my sympathies.
