Leaving her room at exactly two past five to go to her workshop and make buttons all day is the daily routine of Abi, also known as Seven at two past five. However, her life was one day disrupted when Terror never appeared during her sleep. She woke up happy that for once she had a peaceful night then Abi did her daily routine and went out her room to go to work. Once on her workshop she noticed that an envelope containing the instructions regarding the details of the buttons she has to make is nowhere to be found, instead a different envelope was in the table. Abi read the contents of the letter which would change everything that she know.

Seven at Two Past Five is a fiction novel written by Tara Basi. This unique book takes its readers to the life of Abi and her journey towards the dysfunctional justice system and her fight against the people trying to destroy her. In this book Abi tells us of her journey towards justice and her battle to take back her life of button making.

This book was written in a very unique and creative way. The characters represents people from all walks of life. It shows how our society works and operates. Some were after money while others are after knowledge. Some are just simply after the truth. The thing that I like most about this novel is that everyone can relate to the situation Abi was in. Everyone was once accused of something they know nothing about at least once in their life, but just like Abi we try to explain our own side. As we try to prove our innocence, we realize that most people are not really after the truth, they are just after the things that would benefit them.

Reading this book will never be a waste of your time. Entertainment wise this book did a great job of conveying the story of Abi. The only thing that I do not like about this book is that the first part is a little bit hard to understand. At times you got confused about what is happening to Abi and that what you are reading doesn’t make any sense, but as you progress everything starts to make sense. Most casual readers will find this book hard to comprehend and will stop reading which is sad because this book has a lot in store for its readers.

This book contains literal and deep meaning behind the characters and situations Abi has to face. Most of the time you will have to ponder about some of the events that happened. This book is not for everyone. Those who like suspense and thinks about meaning behind everything then this book is for you. I will give this book a rate of 4 out of 4 stars since it is professionally written and its contents are gold.

I definitely agree that because this book is absurdist, it can be hard to follow at times, and takes a moment to get into. And the absurdist take on the world helps present it in a new light and creates things to think about.
