I was really impressed by Empowered: The Business Owner’s Guide to Leadership & Success by Dominica Lumazar. I have not read a lot of business and marketing books but I have read other types of books about leadership and interpersonal development and I guess this book somehow also qualifies as a motivational book.
I was really surprised because this book connected to me. I am currently in the stage of my life where I do not know the direction I want to pursue in my career. I work as an employee but I hope to someday be the boss of my own business. To someone who has never had an idea about running a business and has never taken any lessons or a bachelor’s degree in business, it is very daunting to think of all the logistics in having your own business. This is where the book comes in.
In Empowered, the author takes us to the process as she experienced it herself. She tells you the narrative of how she started her career and how she became the owner of a business. She opens up about the struggles she had to overcome in handling her business and how she trained herself in every aspect of running a business; from the necessary leadership skills, employer-employee relationships, the financial aspects, the relationship between the business and customers, the products, marketing the company, and the work and life balance. It’s an in-depth book that teaches you both about the positive and negative aspects of running a business. Her approach in dealing with the difficulties of operating a business are realistic and reasonable. This book is also very relatable and timely, with how it emphasized the importance of using the resources that we currently have now like the internet and our mobile phones.
Empowered is a book that every business owner should read at least once. It is the book for people just starting their business and they want to know the ropes about the daily operations of running their companies. It is the book for veteran business owners who want to see more growth in their companies that have become stagnant due to the fast-paced changing trends. It is the book for business people period. The author really does a great job of sharing all her knowledge and experience to equip you with all the things you need in order to be successful.
