I could only imagine how difficult it would be to teach a four- year old a complex concept as peace. However, Julie Penshorn’s application of visual stimulation and the appeal to the beauty of color in her work – I Can See Peace, seems to do the trick. Infants around the age of four years lean mostly through seeing and this book is abundantly illustrative in its exploration of the notion of peace.

The book has simple and short sentences, which can be understood easily by children in this age- range. Julie Penshorn aptly captures the young imagination with her impressive simplicity and reference to familiar images within the environment.

In addition, the book is also interactive. The various activities in this book reinforce the vital lessons that make peace a more interesting and less abstract concept.

In a world where peace is becoming more and more elusive, it is rather imperative that children be prepared emotionally for the tumult in the world all around. Without which, it is easy for children to become overwhelmed and suffer perpetually.

What I liked most about this book is its educational significance. I feel that the book can be used in elementary schools and at home. It is easy to use by both teachers and parents. The book is an important aid and guide to children’s emotional growth.

The audience targeting is excellent. The simplicity is both entertaining and captivating to a four-year old’s mind. I also believe that children up to six years old and slightly older will find the book useful as they take the first steps of their reading journey. Interestingly, peace is not an age-specific concept.

The book was well-edited and I could not find a single error. I give I Can See Peace 4 out of 4 stars. I recommend the book to parents who want to cultivate an early love for books in their children.

I also loved this book. I see it as a tool that can be used with kids throughout grade school in order to help them learn how to "see peace" in stressful situations.
