From Drift to SHIFT is a motivational guide on how to make changes in our life with the end goal being happiness and contentment.

The book is separated into four parts. Each one starts with a few pages of introduction and an explanation on either why, when or how to make those life-changing shifts. It is then followed by the stories of people who were once "drifting" due to health problems, social situations, and more obstacles. We then come to know how they overcame such hardships and took upon themselves to survive and to make the most of what they had. Often, they also became founders of associations helping the ones in the same situation. Throughout those biographies, the author deciphers their actions and extract a more general explanation, so that everyone can relate and adapt it to their case.

This book radiates positivity. Each and every story is inspiring, and really shows the world in a courageous and striving light. The author's purpose for this book has definitely been attained. It is well written and is very raw and emotionally detailed, so the readers can truly experience the protagonist's traumas. It is well edited and has several fonts and structures, like bold to make things stand out or highlight a quote and bullet points to summarize or make things clearer: all of those make the reading less monotone and easily engaging. At the end, we can find the work of everyone who spoke (foundations, blogs, programs and detailed explanations), a subtle tribute to every hero who told their story.

Jody B. Miller achieved her aim of inspiring people in need of a change. She gave all the tools to succeed, from real examples of success to practical summaries and takeaways from each chapter. I give a 4 out of 4 stars to From Drift to SHIFT because I believe it can really make a difference in someone's life and give hope to anyone feeling stuck. I also appreciate that the author opened up to her audience, telling her own story and personal details, all of it to embody the expression of "drifting" to eventually "shift". It helps to feel a connection to the writer and Miller made this vulnerability her strength.

I highly recommend this to people in need of advice and encouragement to stop drifting and start shifting! I finished this book with a positive vibe and so will most people. Great book!
