Randy Love...at your service by Shay Carter, revolves around the life of Randy Love after he decides to get out of his father's house and live on his own.
Throughout the story we get to know about Randy, he's a typical lazy, manipulative, cunning, irresponsible person, with better-than-you and know-it-all personality and because of this he gets in so much trouble in his jobs and in his rental apartments which he changed for four times through eight months.
He's an unexpected child for his parents. His mother dies few years after his birth. He has two siblings who are both very successful in their respective fields which makes him the black sheep of the family so it's no surprise for them when they hear about his mishaps and misfortune, it's expected of him to get into trouble. He's also popular in the female department because of which he gives slight to no respect to them.
What I loved most about this book was the comedy, the jokes really made me laugh and were delivered properly, I enjoyed the comic aspect of it. Also, the book is well written, the flow of the narration was really good too.
What I least liked about this book is it's lack of purpose, there was no conclusion to the story. It was boring too, I was not excited to read what happened to the character. There was no suspense which would've glued me to the story or made me emotionally invested to the main character. The ending was rather abrupt and forced too.
I may have liked it more if the story was on the journey of Randy being no good to a responsible person, but till the end, Randy had little to no improvement or redemption.
The book was fast paced and light. Even after finding the book boring, there were other elements which I enjoyed. His banter with other characters especially Nicky was hilarious, his father and Michael Goddard made it worthwhile too. There were little to no grammatical mistakes which shows the book was professionally edited.
All in all, the book was very well written and I enjoyed it enough to give it 3 out of 4 stars. I wish it had a conclusion though.
I'll recommend this book to new adults like me, who are discovering the real world and figuring out how it works. Randy can surely teach us what not to do if we find ourselves in similar situations. Comedy lovers would enjoy it too.
I'll not recommend this book to those who don't like general fiction.
