WE ARE VOULHIRE. A New Arrival Under Great Skies

This is a work of fiction by Matthew Tysz, the first in it's series.Tysz introduces a character by the name Galen, who was narrating his journey from the Lands of the Princes to Voulhire. He started with the tale of a king with four sons, each with a legitimate claim to the throne and a desire to rule. Their father fearing an overthrow decided to give each one an island, but they soon engage in civil wars among themselves as foreseen by their father.

Galen who was caught in the middle of the war desired a change which came in the form of an inheritance from a distant uncle. He is travelling to a country called Voulhire, with it's many cities like Soulhire, Virko, Yamon Soul, Magnum Caelum. He meets Rowan, the executor of his uncle's estate and together they embark on various adventures. He desires to continue and excel in the business that his uncle founded.

The king of Voulhire tries to secure his reign from the greedy Mianoran Council, his friend-turned-foe General Meldorath (who is assumed dead), and other perceived enemies. There is the imprisoned powerful wizard and the Riva Rohavi, who are on a revenge quest against Voulhire. The land is filled with different persons who are powerful in their own right and have plans, employing science, magic and religion to achieve their aims. These all constitute challenges for the king as he steers the nation towards prosperity and peace.

I like the way the Author started with the history of the lands and a map. It made it easier to follow the layout as the characters travelled. The characters were realistic enough with feelings and emotions that so resonate with everyday people living life as best as they could. I learnt some new words such as "hiney" (which means buttocks), animus (which means hostility). I had quite an adventure reading the book as it gave me an opportunity to let my imagination run wild. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

There was nothing I dislike, I did not notice any typographical error as it seems to be well edited. Hence I will rate the book "WE ARE VOULHIRE. A New Arrival Under Great Skies", 4 out of 4 stars. For anyone interested in the medieval history and likes adventures, this is a book to read.
