We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is an intriguing fantasy series filled with creativity and imagination.

“Keep your head low, but your eyes ahead. Keep your mind on earth, but your heart among the stars.”

The book introduced us to two worlds: the physical world called The Cosmos and the magical world referred to as Caromentis.

In the land of the Princes, Galen Bray was one of the four sons of the mighty king. When the brothers formed a betrayal toward their father, a war had begun. The king equally left an inheritance to the four of them, but greed to be the kingdom’s heir consumed them.

Galen, in his humble venture traveled through the seas toward an unknown destination. In his home, you either die by the sharp blade or by the slow punishment of hunger. Yet, in his new destination, He found the place far different from what he is used to. Upon his arrival in the bewitched city if Voulhire, he eventually unraveled the mystery of the town with the help of his uncle’s notes.

The book reminds me of a Harry Potter series, the only difference is that this one offered a darker theme. Also, I think this will make out a good movie if it ever was adapted. It is a combination of thrilling action among the black knights versus the Riva Rohavi and magical fantasy. If you are one of those people who enjoy reading book series, I think this one will be a good pick for you. Honestly, I am not a fan of book series, but the book’s description really caught my curiosity. I have read Tysz’s other works and I kind of like his style, so I decided to give this one a go. Fortunately, the book met my expectations, it proved me right that this was going to be an equally amazing read. I enjoyed the thorough description of each setting because it enabled my imagination to explore on other dimensions, and for it, I reward the book 4 out of 4 stars.

Frankly, I think that the book was flawless enough for I had not encountered typographical nor grammatical errors. My only wish was that the author will add an extra spice on the story line. For instance, action scenarios between the cities of Voulhire or a more twisted ending. But, overall the book was satisfying and unique.

Tysz does have quite an individual outlook on human nature, and picking up any of his books results in quite some food for thought. Thanks for the review!
