Introduction: Something New When You're Blue
Reading has always been my escape growing up. It transports you into the writer's world when you desperately need to be somewhere else. It expands your mind, and changes the way you think about the world. Growing up my family was very emotionally distant. I would find myself staring at my book shelf, quietly scanning the pages. As I got older my books were replaced with text books, and my fantasy novels gathered dust. But never thrown away just stored until they could be reopened again. That happened after my second child was born. I lost myself in a world of emotions, and secretly needed that escape. I read... I was happy. Now, it's my turn to share that love of books with my children. We read every night in the hopes that they can find themselves transported into a new world of their choosing.

"In the case of good books, the point is not to see how many of them you can get through, but rather how many can get through to you." (Mortimer J. Adler)
