Icon Literary Rodeo (AKA about me)

Post by ligeareborn »

Wow, it's been awhile since I went on a BBC board. Anyway, I'm not new to liking literature at all. I just like to read. The last few years in between work and taking care of a child who is about to be 6.I tend to be of two-minds about things most of the time. On the surface, I tend to not reveal too much, yet once people know me sometimes I just bare my soul to people (but only if I'm comfortable with it). I just love to read, and I will on rare event attempt to write something. Often I tend to be drawn to poetry or short stories, to me while I like reading novels, I'm not sure I could ever concentrate enough to finish that 'great American novel'. Grammar in particular was also a low point for me (it shows right? My math skills are minimal too but hey who's counting haha) but like the true rebel, I care more about making sense, getting a point across and providing meaning or perhaps questions. I have a curious nature, and I'm always asking questions. I did graduate with a literature degree, but I'm big enough to admit I was not at the top of my class. I cared more about the fact that I loved literature, and I liked debating with my class mates and interacting with a more hands-on approach. Though, I can be a bit shy at times, but yet I often force myself to face some fears from time to time. Writing does require an amount of vulnerability, so I have a great deal of respect for people who bare their souls on the page. I also suppose many musicians, buying albums or going to concerts (I myself being partial to singing and vocalists), in that same sense writing and music have something in common. They both require people to risk something in order to gain, and also sometimes the low paychecks (drumroll). Though, one must go where the passion is, or else why bother doing it at all right? I say do what you love, true some of us will rarely get away from the 9 to 5 or even the 10 hour jobs...but there is always the hope of something more isn't there? That's what keeps me going anyway. Thanks for reading, have a good day.
