To be honest, I haven’t read a lot of erotica, but one that I really loved was Never Sweeter by Charlotte Stein. I liked it because it delt with a very thought provoking issue, and there was a lot of build up and sexual tension before anything naughty happened.

Lords of the Underworld by Gena Showalter. Warning: It doesn't have much substance, but if you have a liking for Greek and Roman mythology, this might take your fancy.

Mountain Masters & Dark Haven Series by
Cherise Sinclair

This is a bdsm series. Very well done. I haven't read 50 Shades but I believe it's along the same lines.

I can also recommend the following authors. All are erotica but also sci-fi because that's my favorite and have good humor.

T.S. Joyce (Single partner Mate style)
Ruby Dixon (Alians single Mate style)
Tracy St. John (more bdsm style multiple partners)

Hope that helps. I know tons more if you have a different preference but mostly sci-fi stuff.

Happy reading ;)

-Nighthuntress series by jeaneine frost (mostly vampire)
-Riley Jenson series by Keri Athur (werewolf)
-Fever series by Karen Moning (fae)
-Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton (vampire)

Why don't you try Heartaches by H.M. Irwing it covers both romance and erotica.

As strange as it may sound I would recommend Clan of Cavebear series by Jean Auel. Very good story line set in pre-historic times, a series 6 books. Each can stand alone tho, the romance does not really start till book 2 tho.

The Hacker series by Meredith Wild. It also sets in the modern society but I think it's better than Fifty Shades due to the characters being on equal footing with each other.
