My favorite thing about Harry Potter 7 was how complicated it got and how so many things tied back into earlier books. If you liked that Assassins of Tamurin is amazing bit a little long. Isobelle Carmody is one of my favorite authors of post-apocalyptic fantasy. She wrote the Obernewtyn Chronicles. Also a favorite is the Dark Angel by Merideth Ann Pierce.

Try the Graceling series by Kristin Cashore. Also Artemis Fowl is a great series. Hunger Games by Stephanie Meyer and the Wrinkle in Time Series by Madeleine L Engle.

Ahh, I'm so jealous you get to read Harry Potter for the first time. I wish I could do that all over again. The Magicians by Lev Grossman is a series set at a magical college in America. It's advertised as the adult Harry Potter. It's not really the same as HP so don't go in expecting that but it's still good! It's also a Netflix series.

"The Testament of Gideon Mack" by Scottish author James Robertson is one of the very best novels I've read in recent years ;)

Try shiver by Maggie Stiefvater. Also, the Darkest Minds and Throne of Glass series are amazing.
