Books for students

Fahrenheit 451 is one of my favorites that I read in school, and I remember most of our class actually enjoying it.

I am a high school student and I loved reading speak, the outsiders I love anything by James Patterson If I stay and Where she went by Gayle Forman are really good too!!

I read Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier during my senior year of high school, and I remember everyone loving it.

I also really liked Frankenstein when I was in high school (and continued to like it until about the 47th time I had to read it as a college English Major )

I thought 'The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes' were good, the wolf brother series if that is suitable, maybe a series isn't suitable. Finally one slightly weird but absolutely fantastic book is 'Bottersnikes and Gumbles', its very funny and just a good book!

I just finished high school and the book that impacted me the most as well as my classmates was 1984. I would totally recommend it

I would recommend any of Jennifer Donnelly's historical fiction books.

My students also got into the book Speak...they just wanted to read, discuss, repeat. I wish they were engaged like that everyday!

I have to say To Kill A Mockingbird was my favorite school read, ever. I would definitely recommend the sequel as well

I highly recommend the Book Thief. It will keep your students interested, the characters are relatable, and the historical components are an added bonus (more learning!). Of course, I'm sure many students will be turned off by its length. It is, after all, a whopping 552 pages. The book can be difficult, but it is so well-written and one of those books that leaves the reader a different person than when they began the book.

I love the book Rebecca! It's one of my all times favorites.
You can also try to get them reading by making them read a book that isn't written in the conventional way, try House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski.
