Try the Naturals series by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. It falls more under YA but I loved it.

I've been obsessing with Jane Casey's series. They are Maeve Kerringan series the first book is "The Burning". Also Robert Galbraith's series is what got me into crime books. Hope that helps!

For true crime novels I highly recommend:
1) Zodiac by Robert Graysmith
2) Who Killed My Daughter by Lois Duncan
3) One to the Wolves by Lois Duncan (sequel to #2 listed on here, but can be read independently)
4) Encyclopedia of Serial Killers (can't remember the author but it has a few pages/chapter on some of the more well known or unknown killers that aren't known to many)

For something a bit different, try the 'Railway Detective' series by Edward Marston - lots of interesting Victorian period detail, too. I would also advocate the books of Minette Walters - excellent psychological thrillers.
An Eye for an Eye only ends up making the whole world blind.

 If you truly want to read one of the best serial killer books that is out there today you should try, The Deliberate Stranger by Anne Rule. This is the true story of Ted Bundy. Ann Rule knew Ted Bundy, she sat beside him at the crisis center he work at helping people with suicide. She knew him very well and wrote a very compelling book about him and her experiences with him. So if you truly like serial killer books this is one of the best ones ever written please take a read and let me know how you like it.

Great to see this thread!

I was going to mention Graysmith's Zodiac, but someone has beaten me to it!

For something a bit different you might try The Suspicions of Mr Whicher by Kate Summerscale - a true story of the murder of a child in a middle class household in the UK in the early 1900s. Aside from being a well-told story, it is interesting to see the very earliest detective techniques in practice at the time.
